Easy Almond Tea Cake Cookies

Ingredients
  

This recipe makes 4 dozen for smaller cookies and 3 dozen for large. You can also half the recipe if you want less.

  • 1 cup butter softened
  • 2 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • 5 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 tsp almond extract
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • Powdered sugar
  • Optional: 1 tbsp orange zest

Instructions
 

  • In the bowl of a stand mixer, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy
  • Add eggs and almond extract, beating well
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, cornstarch and nutmeg
  • Dissolve the baking soda in the milk
  • Alternate adding the flour mixture and milk, beating well after each addition
  • Using a large cookie scooper, place the cooke batter on a large well greased baking sheet or with a silicone mat or parchment paper.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 15-16 minutes. Remove when they are lightlylbrowned on the botoom
  • Remove from oven and allow to cool on a wire rack for 15 minutes, and then sift powdered sugar over the top
