These Creepy Crawly Halloween Brownies are spooky, fudgy, and fun—rich chocolate squares filled with festive Halloween Oreos, then topped with orange frosting and eerie spiderwebs that make the perfect treat that kids will love!
What Happens When Fudgy Brownies Meet Halloween Oreos?
These spooky brownies holds a surprise: gooey chocolate, chewy layers, and hidden Halloween Oreos with the orange creme filling. Finished with spiderweb frosting, these treats turn any celebration into a playful and slightly spooky adventure. They’re are a fun way to turn an ordinary brownie into a playful Halloween treat.
Tips
1. Don’t overmix the batter.
Once you add the flour and cocoa powder, stir just until combined. Overmixing can make brownies tough instead of fudgy.
2. Check for doneness early.
Brownies continue to cook as they cool. Pull them from the oven when a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs—not completely clean—for that fudgy texture.
3. Use room-temperature eggs.
They incorporate better with the sugar and oil, giving a smoother, thicker batter that bakes evenly.
4. Layer in the Halloween Oreos gently.
If you fold them into the batter, do it carefully so they don’t break apart too much. Alternatively, sprinkle them on top before baking for fun, intact bites.
5. Cool completely before frosting.
If the brownies are even slightly warm, the frosting will melt and slide off.
6. Practice Spiderwebs – practice making spiderwebs on a piece of parchment paper
Ingredients in Creepy Crawly Halloween Oreo Brownies
Short on time? Use boxed mix!
- Sugar
- Canola or vegetable oil
- Vanilla extract
- All-purpose flour
- ½ tsp salt
- Unsweetened cocoa powder – for a deeper chocolate flavor, use Dutch processed cocoa powder
- 5 large eggs –creates a thicker, richer, slightly chewier brownies
- 16 oz can white frosting – you can make your own buttercream, but this way is much quicker!
- Orange Food Coloring – If you can’t find orange, then mix red and yellow together until you get the color you want
- Halloween Oreo Cookies – Most large grocery chains carry this seasonal version
- Black decorating gel – This will be made to make the spider webs. I like Betty Crocker
Instructions
- Grease a 9X13″ baking pan with cooking spray or line with parchment paper
- Add eggs, oil, and sugar to a large mixing bowl and whisk until it’s fully combined. The mixture will form a thick paste.
- Add flour, salt and cocoa powder to the bowl and stir until fully combined.
- Pour 1/2 of the batter into the prepared baking pan, then place 3 rows of 4 Oreos evenly spaced apart.

- Pour the remaining batter over the Oreo layer so cookies are completely covered.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes, taking them out when they still feel undercooked. The batter will be very fudgy when you put a toothpick into the middle. If baking in a metal pan, reduce baking time to 25-30 minutes.
- Allow to cool on a wire rack for 30 minutes
- Add orange food coloring to to the frosting until you get the desired color
- Spread frosting across the top of the cooled brownies and cut into 12 individual brownies
- How to Make Spiderwebs:
- Draw circles with black gel: Using your black decorating gel, pipe a large circle around the edge of each frosted brownie. Then, pipe a medium circle inside the first one, and a small circle inside the second circle.

- Create the web: Take a toothpick and, starting from the center, drag it outward through all the circles to the edge. Repeat around the brownie until it looks like a spiderweb.

Storing
Keep brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for 2–3 days, or refrigerate if you want the frosting to stay extra firm
