Jello Zombie Brains

Jump to Recipe Print Recipe

Super spooky Jello Zombie Brains are so creepy that your party guests might be scared to give them a try! But once they try one edible brain, they’ll be sure to grab more because these slimy Halloween treats are actually super tasty. Lime flavored Jello is combined with evaporated milk to create creamy, fruity gelatin paired with a drizzle of cherry jelly for a “bloody” spooky effect. Spooky bloody brains coming right up – let’s get cooking!

The zombie mold

Popular Halloween party stores usually carry a large brain plastic mold but I really like serving bite sized treats at Halloween parties. You can find bite-sized brain molds on Amazon. Silicone molds make the process of getting the Jello out of the mold without breaking the brain, a piece of cake. I give it a light spray with cooking spray before I fill them to make it extra easy and to ensure I don’t damage a single brain.

With or without jelly "blood" these jello zombie brains are super spooky and ready for your next Halloween party.

Not into Zombies?

I created green zombie brains because a green brain feels extra creepy and because I absolutely love the combination of lime paired with a cherry jelly drizzle. To make regular brains, simply use strawberry or cherry flavored gelatin instead of lime. Once combined with the evaporated milk, the color turns pink and looks disgusting and realistic…in the best way possible.

What’s in Jello Zombie Brains?

  • 6 ounces lime-flavored Jello or Simple Mixes brand gelatin (I prefer Simple Mixes which I order from Amazon)
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 1 cup fat-free evaporated milk
  • Cooking spray
  • 1/3 cup cherry jelly/jam – strawberry or raspberry will also work
  • Don’t forget you’ll need a silicone brain mold for these treats. Popular Halloween stores usually carry a large brain mold but I really like serving bite sized treats at Halloween parties. You can find bite-sized brain molds on Amazon.

How to make Jello Zombie Brains

  • Pour the contents of the Jello packets into a large bowl.
  • Add one cup boiling water and stir until it’s completely dissolved.
  • Pour one cup of cold water into the mixture and stir until combined.
  • Add one cup evaporated milk to the Jello and stir until combined.
  • Lightly spray the silicone molds with cooking spray.
  • Fill the molds with the mixture and refrigerate until solid.
  • Once the gelatin has set you can remove the brains from the molds.
  • Mix the jelly with 1/4 cup water and pour a small amount over each brain. I like to add the jelly mixture to a zip lock bag and cut a small portion off the corner for a homemade piping bag.
With or without jelly "blood" these jello zombie brains are super spooky and ready for your next Halloween party.
